It’s Week 2, it’s Monday, we’d all rather have spent the day at home in our dressing gowns and we haven’t covered it yet – high time indeed, then, to bring some of Douglas Adams‘s ‘Hitchhikers‘ into the mix, what with it being utterly, indisputably brilliant in almost every conceivable way.
The fact that Ford Prefect is the only character that leapt to mind as having a name beginning with F is neither here nor there, obviously.
He did leap to mind twice though… *
Should you wake one unfortunate day
To a ‘dozer, your house in the way,
With your towel and some tea
And Ford Prefect, you’ll see
No disaster can’t be kept at bay.
OR, if you prefer…
If you find, like poor Arthur Dent did,
That your house will be shortly fragmented,
A towel and some tea
And Ford Prefect will see
That your ongoing life is protected.
(*I couldn’t decide which one I liked best. You should see me trying to choose a birthday card, but only if you have a few hours to kill.)
