Well, it’s that time of year again
It’s actually been that time of year for us since the start of the month with various xmas get togethers going on - have had two christmas dinners already and a fair few mince pies, along with some very nice presents
My parents are now (I hope!) safely in Oaxaca in Mexico til mid January with my brother and his girlfriend/fiancee (not entirely certain which!) - haven’t heard anything from them but I hope they have a lovely christmas and new year! Looking forward to seeing all the pics when they get back - it’d be nice to know what the probable future wife of my brother looks like after all!

Florida :D
11:02 pmThe fact that typing ‘F’ brought up a drop down box with the rest of this post’s title in it would suggest I’ve used it before, but it’s as relevant now as it was then and why waste precious brain cells on being imaginitive when you don’t have to anyway?
We are, as implied in afore mentioned title, going to Florida again for the last bit of July/first bit of August next year!
Big thanks for this go to a certain set of lovely parents who know who they are, and unlike my own dear folks, may actually read this at some point.
Speaking of my own dear folks, they’re off to Mexico in a few months time to visit my brother who now lives over there with his apparently lovely girlfriend who I shall at this rate be meeting at his wedding. What’s remarkable about this isn’t so much that my younger brother is doing brilliantly in a foreign country all on his own and has managed to settle down, but that my parents are not going on any other holidays between now and then which is something of a record.
What with a holiday to look forward to, certain key things looking far more positive than they’ve done in a while, and a weekend of socialising ahead, I’m feeling quite chirpy ![]()

8th gup and other stuff
10:41 amIt’s official - I am now an 8th gup, or Yellow Belt in TKD. I’m obviously pleased to have passed but I don’t feel I did as well as in my last one and am starting to feel like a blimp in a dobok struggling through at the bottom of the class. Some of my techniques just seem to be so bad compared to everyone else’s, especially where balance is required, which is becoming more and more frustrating :/ Really want to get a lot lot better for my next grading if I can.
In other news, spent a very pleasant time with Kev’s family last weekend (once the grading was over) to celebrate his dad’s 50th - the Ashoka and homemade Beef Wellington, what more could you want?
On a sadder note, RIP Uncle Dave who passed away recently…

Well I had a good weekend - went to the Impy (local Wetherspoons) for dinner on Saturday with Kev and various people from Taekwon Do after their paintballing social (that bit I didn’t go to) and came back to have a very fun evening playing WoW with some random people I bumped into in-game
Spent Sunday playing some more and watched Casualty and Red Dwarf and had a generally quiet restful day
No calls from my various travelling family members either which was nice - parents sent an email tho.
Anyway, today is Monday and ahead of me are 5 weeks with no work to do and a lot of time in which to not do it
Why can’t I have a nice long Easter holiday aswell dammit?

The day after the weekend before
12:55 pmWell last weekend lived up to its expectations anyway
Had a very pleasant evening at the Offs (omg their flat is nice!!) and borrowed a book showing pictures of various deadly looking rides that I am expected to try out come September! Watched Supersize Me while we were there which proved an interesting insight into America, McDonalds and the dangers of fatty foods in general. 30 days on the ‘McDiet’ and the guy had gained 24.5 lbs and was well on the way to killing his liver!
Saturday was fun, altho Dave was poorly
Still, I think some fresh air and company helped and he came back to ours afterwards to come and admire Kev’s new Mac Mini and generally hang out
Yesterday was also fun - gorgeous lunch and was nice getting out of Exeter for a bit, although the travelling was a little tiring (and I wasn’t even driving!)
Parents are now in Brazil with my brother in Mexico - I’m hoping for three weeks of non-stress
You’d think it’d be difficult to create stress from across the ocean but this is my family and they can do it if they try hard enough!

A belated happy new year :)
1:21 amHaven’t said anything in here in a while….judging by the amount of spam comments I get in my moderation queue there’s nobody who’s overly distressed by this but just in case I do have a few avid viewers out there I apologise for the lack of comment lately
Xmas came and went (had a lot of cool pressies from Kev - Disney DVDs, a light up clock and a t-shirt I can put my own slogans on are mine!) Did the obligatory family visit which wasn’t perfect but could’ve been worse. …every year I decide I’m not going back but then I get afraid of spending xmas day on my own and I don’t think I could live with the guilt anyway! Never feels like going to my old home anymore…..more like staying in a guesthouse that I know the owners of really well.
Had a quiet new year’s eve at home watching Jools Holland’s Hootenany with a bottle of Vouvrai (white wine which I’d never had before but was lovely) and had our ex-housemates come over on the 2nd to celebrate with us then which was great fun
We went over to theirs before xmas too and they came to my birthday meal yesterday so has been nice to see more of them in the last few weeks
Yes, I am now 24 and wondering what happened to 21
Went to work on the day itself for the first time in ages which felt a bit odd but went to the pub for lunch which made it feel a bit more special day-like, and of course had to take in cakes which has always struck me as odd as I’m sure its meant to be me who gets the presents on my birthday as opposed to the other way round but there we go! Who am I to argue with the great British working system? Went out for a meal last night to celebrate with friends and had a wikkid time - more pressies and one still to come as Kev is getting me an Ipod Shuffle which hasn’t been released yet but looks sooooo funky
Not done much else really - went out quite a bit over December but things have settled down a bit now and have thus had plenty of time to play WoW despite being back at work again.
Anyways, bedtime - nite nite ![]()

Quick update
9:29 amBeen a little while since I posted something here so thought I’d better make a fresh appearance
Study is going well - in week 3 now and have had some good feedback for my first pieces of written work
I think we’ve got quite a good group going now, even if there are only 5 of us
My tutor won some poetry award recently and got to meet Simon Callow so its nice to know we’re being taught by one of the best anyway!
Still playing Sims 2, but have lately started getting into Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 and am going to try out Zeus Master of Olympus tonight
Gave Transport Tycoon a go but didn’t really get into that. I know some of these don’t really fit into the whole role playing/character development thing that I go on about, but I’ve found I really like the planning and creating part of games too whether its characters, theme parks or cities!

Mmmmm - weekend
10:19 amHad a good weekend, much needed after last week!
Spent the day with my parents on Saturday which resulted in a nice lunch in the Cowick Barton not far from where I live and a few new Winter-related garments
Then spent Sunday largely playing The Sims/Sims 2 which are worryingly addictive it seems and obviously contain the gaming equivalent of whatever it is they put in Pringles that makes you unable to stop eating them!
Anyways, am now back in work and this week is already shaping up to be as hectic and disorganised as the last one ….leaving at 4 today though to go to the travel agents and get clued up as Kev and I are hoping to go to Florida next year
Much saving up may result!

Arghhhhh!!
10:20 amWhen someone tells you that something is ready to go to print, you’d think that it was pretty final as versions go wouldn’t you? Not, it seems, if you are a distance learning tutor :/ Still, going out for lunch today I think which will be cool
Asheron’s Call 2 is still managing to impress me (especially now I have learnt how the levelling works!) - I have a robe
You can almost forget that it’s a mmorpg at times but had some good teaming action last night
Parents coming to visit tomorrow….mmmm - free lunch
